Coronary Heart Disease and Hypertension Symptoms

Coronary heart disease or CHD is a kind of a condition which is caused by a buildup of fatty deposits on the artery walls which are placed around the heart.  These fatty deposits are called artheroma and are made up of cholesterol and other substances that are waste.  This build up of artheroma on the walls of the coronary arteries makes the arteries narrower and thus limits and restricts the blood flow to the heart.Coronary Heart Disease and Hypertension Symptoms

Hypertension on the other hand is the other name given to high blood pressure and is a condition which puts strain on the heart and can lead to coronary heart disease. There are many ways to identify coronary heart disease as well as hypertension. These signs and symptoms must not be ignored and consulted with a doctor. The following are the coronary heart disease and hypertension symptoms:

Coronary Heart Disease Signs and Symptom

  • The most common symptom of coronary heart disease is chest pain which is called angina.  This happens when the coronary heart arteries are blocked partially. The chest pain can be mild but may be an uncomfortable feeling similar to indigestion. In some cases, this pain can also be severe and cause a feeling of heaviness and tightness. Angina pain is triggered due to a physical activity and passes in less than 10 minutes.
  • Another symptom of CHD is a heart attack.  This happens in the case when the arteries are completely blocked. A heart attack may cause permanent damage to the muscles of the heart and can also prove to be fatal if not treated on time. But how does one know when a heart attack attacks him/her. Some signs of a heart attack are sweating, nausea, lightheadedness and breathlessness. The symptoms of heart attack are similar to that of indigestion.

Hypertension Signs and Symptoms

  • There are no major signs or symptoms of hypertension or high blood pressure. Infact most people suffering from this condition do not even know that they have hypertension.  Infact for this reason, hypertension is called as a silent killer.
  • Some signs of hypertension could be headaches, dizziness, nosebleeds, fatigue and a flushed face. With these, symptoms, it is difficult to know that a person has hypertension as they could be mistaken for other problems or normal day to day occurrences. But one must know that if these symptoms are left untreated, they can affect many parts of the body.
