Web-Based Psychotherapy May Work Effective For Depression Treatment

A new study suggests that web based psychotherapy with therapist and patient texting each other in real time can be effective to solve various mental health issues like depression.

Online psychotherapy adds to growing body of practice and research involving in technology based treatments for mental health problems.

Researchers say that online psychotherapy can potentially give millions of patients a new access to much needed treatment for their mental health issues like depression. Cognitive behavioral therapy is used in particular for such computer based treatments.

Dr. Kathryn J. Kotrla, chairwoman and associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral science at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, says that cognitive therapy is proven effective for trauma related issues.
