What Works Best For Hair Loss?

The American Hair Loss Association informs us that about two thirds of the male population starts to lose some hair by the time they are 35 years of age.

This can be traumatic or at least upsetting for a majority of those who suffer the hair loss.

So what works best for solving hair loss issues for men? The Consumer Reports National Research Center’s new survey tells us the following:

  • What sufferers found to work best was prescription drugs: finasteride, (goes by the brand name Propecia) was seen to be the most effective for men. 27% of those who participated in the survey said it was very effective.
  • Minoxidil, sold under brand name Rogaine was seen to very effective, by 4% of those surveyed.

Among non medical ways to deal with hair loss, some suggestions include:

  • Coping with stress. This was seen to reduce hair loss.
  • Improving diet, exercising and drinking sufficient quantities of water also can help.
  • As in the case of famous baldie Bruce Willis shaving one’s head, getting fit and wearing better clothes is seen to help as well. While this is in the lighter vein, it is a fact that working out can help to improve self esteem and body image, thereby lessening the trauma of hair loss.
