Red Eye Diseases Symptoms

Blurry Vision

Blurry vision is one of the main and common symptoms of a disease which causes the eye to become bloodshot. Whenever a red eye disease attacks you, it may leave you with a blurred or obstructed vision. Health of an eye is often checked by checking whether the patient has a clear vision or not.

Severe Pain

If you are suffering from conjunctivitis, then it may cause you scratchiness of the eye and even mild irritation but if you are experiencing severe pain in your eye then it may be a symptom of a red eye disease such as corneal ulcer, keratitis, acute open angle glaucoma or iridocyclitis. The condition of severe pain must be treated or evaluated as soon as possible to avoid any further complications.

Photophobia

Another symptom or sign of a bloodshot eye condition is extreme sensitivity to light which is more commonly known as Photophobia. This sign may indicate the occurrence of a red eye disease called Iritis. Iritis is an inflammatory disease which occurs in the eye and in which the ciliary muscle get inflamed.

Colored Halos

Colored halos is a sign that you are suffering from a reddened eye disorder called corneal edema or even acute open angle glaucoma. In this condition, halos are observed around the lights and these are caused by a certain disruption or disorder in the optical system of the eye/eyes. The cornea of the eye tends to get thicker than normal which is caused due to the swelling. This thickness of the cornea causes clouding and this in turn results in scattering of the light or halos.
